Today, our female colleagues wish to take a look at the iPad which created such a big hoo-haa. And this is what happen when you pass an iPad to a non-IT lady...
First question was "Wah... so many fingerprints! But don't have such a big screen protector right?"
Upon knowing that it is on WIFI, one of them clicked on Safari with great excitement. But her excitement didn't last too long because she surfed to Facebook and after a few clicks, encountered the No-Flash error.
"Like that cannot play my Pet Society lor? Oh... then also cannot harvest my crops leh!"
If Apple is keen on taking in this group of customers, they better build in Flash support on release 2...

I am quite sure Apple will never do so - because Flash will cause the shortcomings of such devices to be even more evident. In fact, it is said that in a 'townhall' meeting between Stiff Drops and Apple staff, he claimed that most of the Macintosh crashes are Flash related. (So is a lot of my browser crashes.)
ReplyDeleteAlso, CNET did a non-technical 'shoot out' between an iPad and a HP Netbook, and everything is almost on par until... javascript stuff are executed. Only then did the Netbooks gain a significant advantage. (Again, I noticed that loading javascript stuff can bring a Blackberry to a crawl and sort of 'kill it' too.)
To add on, Flash is a known process hogger. If Flash goes into the iPad it will be even more evident that the iPad is nothing more than a oversized iPod Touch (and IMHO, a lemon).
